In a nutshell

There is a growing need for reliable and accessible data tools that support decision-making across work-based learning and industry planning. Scarlatti developed the Workforce Information Platform (WIP) to help industry and training stakeholders access clearer, more connected workforce insights.

This tool brings together workforce, business, and education data for three Industry Skills Boards: Construction and Specialist Trades, Electrotechnology and Information Technology, and Energy and Infrastructure.

WIP

How it is being used

The Workforce Information Platform gives stakeholders a practical way to access complex workforce intelligence without needing to navigate multiple disconnected data sources. It supports evidence-based decisions around workforce development, training provision, and industry planning, while also creating a foundation for future enhancements as new data becomes available. At the moment, the key audience for this tool are the ISBs – and specifically those analyst teams working to prepare qualification and training advice to TEC.

The data

This tool draws on several data sources, including:

  • Statistics New Zealand Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI)
  • Te Waihanga and Pacifecon NZ project pipeline datasets
  • Statistics New Zealand building consents
  • Tertiary Education Commission learner numbers.
